George, Max and Michael Harvey, who is having a couple of weeks training at the BSA, all from Avon Club travelled to Champery for the Welsh Champs, where Headley was officiating. On Thursday they all had two GS races.

  • George (CH1) was 6th
  • Michael (mini) was 6th
  • Max (Mini) was 10th

Friday was Slalom for George where he did well to finish 4th
Michael and Max had stubbies where they were 9th and 13th respectively.
It's back to the BSA for Michael, and back on the road today for George and Max who are heading to Meiringen for the British Schoolboys International Races on Monday and Tuesday.

15th January 2014

Here's a brief report on the Anglo/Scottish races. They were very well run by Malcolm Irskine and the BSA. There was a slight lack of snow, so all the races were set on the very picturesque black Kandahar used in the World Cup down hill. George had 4 days of races - 2 slalom, and 2 g.slalom. All the best kids bar none were there, and competition was tough now he has move up into u14s. And skiing against quite a few home nations and British team members. At worst he was 15th. At best 6th (3rd 2001).
Michael Harvey had a good first day winning the u12s dual slalom. Next stop Switzerland and the Welsh Champs at the end of next week. Michael Harvey is going to the BSA shortly for a couple of weeks and will be incorporating the Welsh. The week after is the British School Boys International in Meiringen.

2nd January 2014

George had 2 days free skiing with Max and then Fiona got him into the 'Meribel Club ESF'. They have races every day (Being the holiday period) The first day was GS and he was a bit rusty in his first race finishing 16th out of 94 (all ages) his 2nd race he won out of 92 French kids and Max who was 65th. George won a really nice soft shell Meribel ski club jacket. New Year's Eve was slalom on the Mottaret stade. George had 2 races finishing 7th and 8th again about 100 starters, all ages, and was 2nd within the U14 age group getting him picked for the Meribel ski team for an inter 3 Valleys clubs race on the Courchevel Stade on New Years Day.(Max was 26th and 42nd) George skied out of his skin to get a podium Bronze medal, and part of the winning Meribel U14 team. Not bad for a kid who learnt to ski on 100 metres of plastic!!! He's in Les Houches now and has just gone up the mountain with the BSA in preperation for the Anglo Scottish, starting this week end. The snow is not great here, although it is snowing at the moment. The forecast is more rain than snow. I think the races should just about go ahead.
